Meet Guactruck, the Food Truck at Bonifacio Global City

Around September last year, Paul and I learned about the arrival of the first ever food truck called Guactruck from fellow food blogger Anton. According to his blog entry, food lovers will be able to see and try Guactruck's specialties at Mercato Centrale. Since then, Guactruck has been around, mostly within the Bonifacio Global City (BGC) area.

We've been so excited to check this out due to our failed attempt at spotting a single food truck while vacationing in the US last year. I'm not giving up and I'm so glad that I don't have to book a plane ticket to see one up close.

While strolling around BGC last week, my sister pointed out the brightly-lit food truck that was parked right in front of the Fort Legend building and Tully's Coffee. I totally forgot about Guactruck being in BGC and I was so happy that we finally spotted it!

After having coffee, I dragged my family to check the food truck out. It was quite dark already however the bright LED lights of the truck really made it really attractive. We were greeted by a friendly Chinese-looking girl who guided us through their simple menu. Their specialty was the Beef Tapa but we opted to get Chicken Tocino on Burrito Bowl (Php. 150) instead.

Ordering was a breeze. First you choose your base: Burrito Bowl (Php. 150), Nacho Bowl (Php. 150) or Salad Bowl (Php. 180). As you may have guessed it, the only difference is that the burrito has rice, the nacho has chips while healthy eaters will love the salad with lettuce. All bowls will have the meat, salsa and toppings.

The thing about food trucks is that there are no sitting area available thus all orders are to go. I love the look of  the pretty origami-like box that contained our Chicken Tocino Burrito Bowl. I carefully carried this with me as we drove home. Upon opening the box again, I was surprised that the burrito bowl stayed intact. No drippings from the sauce and I still got the cheese and salsa on top.Yay!

We took a small serving each and agreed that the meat was pretty good. I love how it had the right amount of sweetness and it was very tender too. I just hope they can improve on the rice. I somehow prefers this with Mexican rice instead of just plain white rice. The cheese and salsa were delicious too.

I want to go back to try the two other bowls. I'm glad that tracking where Guactruck is pretty easy. Simply follow them on Twitter to know where their exactly location is for the day.

Hope they'll be more food trucks running around Manila soon.

  4. They;'re usually stationed in front of where I work which is Deutsche Bank. I feel like a loser though because I haven't bought from them yet even if they're just right in front of us whenever I leave work. XD Haha! Bustling bee!
