Pearly Smiles this 2013

*SPONSORED POST*

Paul, my family, and even my closest colleagues can attest to how OC I can get when it comes to oral hygiene. For me, having a healthy set of pearly whites is an important asset for everyone. Not just for us, ladies but even for the gents as well. I grew up with my parents reminding us to brush our teeth at least twice a day, to floss regularly and to visit the dentist every six months. While I really dread the bi-annual fluoride application that makes me gag after every procedure, I still do it as this helps protect my teeth from cavities.

Indeed, this habit has earned me cavity-free teeth up to this day. My OC-ness towards brushing and choosing the right type of toothbrush and toothpaste was heightened during my high school years when I literally begged my mom to let me have braces. I wasn’t born with straight teeth. After all my milk teeth have fallen off, it seemed like my permanent teeth all had minds of their own and came out in disarray leaving a narrow gap between my two front teeth. To others, it can easily be dismissed as a minor flaw but it bothered little vain me for years.

After Mommy finally gave in to my endless pleas, I had my braces installed and realized that having it wasn’t as easy and painless as I thought it would be. I had my share of mouth sores, sleepless nights due to the tightening of the wires, skipping out on hard and sticky food for two whole years and staying away from drinks that could stain my teeth. It was indeed a test of one’s patience and determination. Beauty sure has its price. As a result, I even became more conscious of my oral cleaning habits which I continue to practice today.

When choosing our toothpaste, my family only uses Colgate. Growing up, I’ve tried a number of Colgate varieties as we love how it freshens our breath, fights against cavities and keeps them pearly white too!

For Paul and Papa, they both have extremely sensitive teeth. It’s a good thing though that they are both very careful when it comes to drinking or eating cold or even hot items as it can sometimes make their teeth painful and ruin the dining experience all together. This is something a lot of us take forgranted but not for both Mommy and I. A visit to our family dentist made us learn that tooth sensitivity, while common, is caused by exposed dentine that connects to our nerve center and this is due to receding gums or worst, a number of dental diseases. When not taken cared of, this can lead to more complications and permanent discomfort for the patient.

Good oral hygiene and regular dental checks can help avoid or cure this. One way is also to try using Colgate Sensitive Pro-Relief toothpaste, I was impressed upon learning that this toothpaste doesn’t just mask or numb the pain but instead it acts as a “filler” to seal the tubules that leads to the nerves to protect your teeth from the possible pain when drinking or eating cold or hot food items. Amazing huh?

Remember, a beautiful smile and teeth free from sensitivity can definitely allow you to enjoy life to its fullest. Check out Colgate Sensitive Pro-Relief toothpaste, which is available in all major supermarkets all over the country. For more information, please visit www.colgatesensitive.com.ph.
