Explore Singapore : S.E.A. Aquarium in Sentosa

Go around the world...under the sea at the S.E.A. Aquarium in Sentosa Island here in Singapore. That was exactly what Paul and I did a few months ago during one of our Sundates exploring the Lion City. Paul is such an animal lover that at some point I am starting to believe that he could have Dr. Dolittle's special power too. Given how fascinated he is with all types of animals, I suggested that we check out the S.E.A. Aquarium has we have been hearing quite a lot of good things about it.

True enough, the long queue that greeted us for the ticket counter was the first sign that this was indeed a must-visit spot here in Singapore. Just like everywhere else in this bustling city, the service was very efficient so we got to the front of the line in no time. We got the One Day Pass (S$38) which will allow us to visit all 10 zones inside.

As you enter, you'll be able to check out the Maritime Experiential Museum where there's a show being projected that will take you back in time as you get up close to trading items, treasures and ship replicas.

Look! Is that Noah's Ark?! :)

Going one level down, we headed towards the entrance to the S.E.A. Aquarium.

As you enter, this is the first thing that will greet you. Pretty amazing don't you think? Your marine life journey begins with this.

Beside it is the Discovery Touch Pool which is my favorite section whenever I get to visit Underwater Aquariums. I love being able to touch the friendly fishes or even have a photo op with a starfish!

Following this is the Ocean Journey where we had a peek at the colorful marine life under several bodies of water in the region such as the South China Sea, Strait of Malacca & Andaman Sea, Red Sea and more. Oh, we spent the most time here as we couldn't help but take a lot of shots of the unique looking fishes and marine life creatures.

Look who I spotted -- It's Nemo & Dory! ♥

At the far end is the Open Ocean where you come face to face with the sharks, stingrays and bigger schools of fishes. I enjoyed just sitting here while watching the activity happening in front of you. Somehow, I find fish-watching very relaxing and therapeutic. (Now, that explains my fascination over the Aquarium Channel..hehe)

Right beside this area is Ocean Restaurant, Singapore's first aquarium restaurant which is owned by no other than Iron Chef Cat Cora. I have yet to try this and I hope we'll be able to do so soon. Might be quite awkward though to have seafood as the sharks, dolphins, fishes and stingrays swim by, don't you think?

Lastly, there's Paul's favorite part -- the Shark Seas. One thing that he looks forward to in Aquariums is to hop on the walkalator and to be surrounded by the variety of sharks swimming above and beside you. We enjoyed this one so much that we went back to the start of this section and went on the walkalator one more time before exiting.

What an educational date we had! This just got to be the biggest underwater aquarium in Asia and the second best that I've been to following Aquaria in KLCC, Malaysia.

As they say, traveling is a good way to learn and to enrich your knowledge so do make sure to learn a thing or two about the great adventure underwater at the S.E.A. Aquarium.

S.E.A. Aquarium is located at 8 Sentosa Gateway, Sentosa Island in Singapore. It's right beside Universal Studios Singapore. There are one-day pass tickets as well as those bundled with the other Sentosa attractions too.
