Two Summer Drinks at Starbucks Coffee

Tonight, I was able to have a nice long chat with Mommy. I really love hearing her voice as this is enough to brighten up my day. She told me that Manila is scorching hot at the moment that being outside is starting to feel like an ordeal to many. Not even the cool blast of the car's air-con is enough to make one feel comfortable. Meanwhile, I told her that it has been raining erratically here in the Lion City. Mornings are almost always warm and come lunch time, it would start to rain non-stop. It's not a big surprise that a lot of my colleagues and their kids are falling sick due to the rise and drop of temperature.

Regardless if it's rainy or sunny, summer is officially here and there's one thing that I love about this season and that is being able to indulge in cups after cups of refreshing ice blended drinks! Take for example, last Sunday. Paul and I spent a quiet morning at Starbucks Coffee while waiting for the NKids to arrive at our lunch venue and we tried the two new Frappuccino drinks on display -- Summer Berry Panna Cotta and Dark Mocha Panna Cotta. If I'm not mistaken, this is a first for Starbucks Coffee to offer drinks with "sinkers" as we would call it in milk tea - linggo. We couldn't decide which one to get so we just went with both.

The Summer Berry Panna Cotta has a nice mixed berries flavor coming from an assortment of cranberries, mulberries, blueberries and strawberries. Personally, the taste profile is very close to a raspberry syrup which perfectly suits my taste as it wasn't too sweet. It was really refreshing that I was supposed to share this with Paul but I think I must have drank 2/3rds of it. Oops! As for the panna cotta, I personally feel that it would take some getting used to, to fully enjoy the custard with the Frappuccino as we have been drinking our frappuccino plain with no custard, no pearls, no "sinkers".

We also tried the Dark Mocha Panna Cotta which tasted exactly like the Dark Mocha Frappuccino only there's that silky panna cotta at the bottom. This was just a-okay for me but Paul loved loved loved it! It's perfect for chocolate lovers who wants their drink dark, rich and sinful. This has a good contrast to the creamy panna cotta bottom making it a dessert drink on its own.

I think I must have found my favorite summer drink! I can't wait to cool off while having more Summer Berry Panna Cotta next time.

Both Summer Berry Panna Cotta and Dark Mocha Panna Cotta are available in all Starbucks Coffee outlets in Singapore and the Philippines.
