Mellben Signature at Tanjong Pagar Plaza, Singapore

When it comes to answering the question " where is the best chili crab in Singapore? " Rest assured that you'll only be able to get the answer after surviving a long debate. With hundreds of zi char outlets all over the island and long time restaurants with histories spanning for decades, this question will never ever have a singular answer. Taste is subjective, after all so while some might like their chili crab burning hot with spice, I like mine with a hint of tangy notes and a bit of creamy texture coating the meaty crab. Whenever we have guests over, Paul and I would make it a point to take them to either a new, unique restaurant, or perhaps to one of our favorite foodie places or to Mellben Signature  to feast on some local favorites. There are actually two zi char places that we frequent but since Mellben Signature  is located just in Tanjong Pagar, this is the best choice in terms of accessibility. Recently, we had my first ever friend (I kid you not) A, as we

8 Cuts Burger Blends in Greenhills Promenade, San Juan City

"I want mah burgers!!" That's my stomach growling from time to time. While I'm not really a big fan of meat, there are just those moments when I find myself craving for a good piece of burger. Nothing too fancy but one with a thick cut of juicy beef, nice fluffy bun and just the right condiments to go with it. Over the Christmas break, Paul and I went on a double date with my best friend L and her hubby T. It's just amazing to look back and realize that we actually have been double dating for close to 13 years as T and Paul courted both L and I almost at the same time. It's just so nice that L and I are always in sync in every big milestones in our lives. From dating T and Paul respectively to being their girl friends and later on, marrying them and being their wives. As for L, she's now a hot momma to two beautiful kids, one of which is my super smart godson and someday she'll definitely a godmother to mine too. That's one great friendship story

Cooking Live : Cucina at Marco Polo Ortigas Manila

For a country, like the Philippines, who loves to eat, it's then expected to have such a booming food industry and boy, competition can be very very fierce! There's basically a lot of options to eat from such as the basic carinderias , to the growing number of food parks, then there's a wide array for restaurants specializing in all sorts of cuisines and cooking techniques then we have our hotels. Within one hotel, you can expect to have more than 3 F&B outlets such as a traditional Chinese or Japanese restaurant, a coffee shop and our favorite -- an all-day dining restaurant which offers its culinary masterpieces buffet-style. Now, it's not really a big surprise how come Paul and I would always pack on so much weight after spending a couple of days back in Manila. Most of the time, we just eat, eat and eat! During our recent visit home, we checked out Cucina  at Marco Polo Ortigas Manila . We've loved this hotel after dining at Lung Hin and we told ourselv

Onboard Singapore Airlines :SQ916 / SQ921 / SQ918 (Singapore - Manila - Singapore)

It has been a very happening and truly exciting two months for both Paul and I. Starting with our trip back to Manila to celebrate the holidays with our families then flying back to Singapore 11 days after to go back to work and once again, back to Manila to witness the beautiful wedding of my Achi Marie. Paul and I knew that all these back and forths will take a toll on our body so we made sure to make our flights home as stress-free as possible. I believe that the airline plays a HUGE role on your over-all well-being when travelling. Don't get me wrong, I still fly budget especially for short trips home but I got to admit that I get really excited every single time I fly via Singapore Airlines . Apart from having more luggage allowance, a hot and delicious meal on board, I look forward to the wide entertainment library consisting of the latest movies, TV shows, music and even several radio channels. Time literally flies when you're on Singapore Airlines as you'll fin

Tai Cheong Bakery opens Cha Chaan Teng in Holland Village

Oh how I miss Hong Kong so so so much! It's always so exciting to go to Hong Kong as there's just an endless supply of good food. It's pretty much Singapore's version in the Northern part of Asia. One thing though that I never really got around to doing when in Hong Kong is to have breakfast at a cha chaan teng . This is because of two things: Paul and I rarely get to wake up really early to make it to breakfast or if ever we're up and ready for breakfast, we would always go for congee instead -- one thing that the both of us grew up having during our respective trips to Hong Kong when we were kids. So, when I heard the great news that Tai Cheong Bakery  finally opened a full-serviced cha chaan teng  restaurant in Holland Village, I didn't missed the opportunity to check it out. By the way, cha chaan teng   means Hong Kong-style teahouse and it's known to served buttered toasts and the very traditional macaroni with luncheon meat soup. Remember how mu

Traditional Bites : Old Seng Choong Pineapple Tarts

The Chinese New Year season here in Singapore has always been extra special for Paul and I. Wanna know why? It was when we opened a new chapter in our lives as we moved to this beautiful country a couple of years ago. I can still remember flying in on the 1st day of CNY and we both noticed how unusually quiet the whole city was. Apparently, it's tradition here that shops close to allow people to go attend their family gatherings for two full days. Days after that, we had our first try of the lo hei and we got to try a couple of traditional snacks that's really new to us too -- pineapple tarts, countless types of nuts and chips, bak kwa and more! It's interesting to see how different a particular holiday is being celebrated in this part of the region. The Year of the Rooster is just around the corner and we're starting to have our fill of our favorite CNY snacks. Not to mention, we're both looking forward to doing numerous rounds of lo hei all throughout t

Airport Lounge : Back at SATS Premier Lounge in Changi Airport Terminal 2

Image
....and we're off again!  After coming back from our amazing 11-day Holiday break in Manila, we're currently back at Changi Airport  ready to go on a quick weekend trip...back to Manila! We're a day away from Achi Marie's BIG day and boy, am I so excited. Let's face it. Travelling can really be tiring. The whole process of packing, unpacking, waiting, boarding, flying and recovering and really take a toll on our body but the whole experience of travelling, I believe, makes it all worth it. For the longest time, I've never been the type who would go to the airport early. Often times, I'd be the last to check-in and would run around like a headless chicken in order to get to the boarding gate on time. I guess, it's because I just hate sitting around while waiting for the boarding gate to open to I would try to get there with the least waiting time possible. I got to admit that this is not a very good practice and it has brought about a lot of Amazing

Welcome the Fire Rooster at Cherry Garden, Mandarin Oriental Singapore (CNY 2017)

HELLO 2017!!! Just like that, 2016 has made its graceful exit and in comes the start of another year. How has been your 2017 so far? For us, it has been really fun as we got to spend a lot of quality time with family. Well, the festivities is definitely far from over as we're all anticipating the coming of the Fire Rooster in less than 3 weeks time. That right! It's time to stock up on round fruits, fill up our red packets with money (and hope we'll get a lot too) and toss for luck and prosperity. Next to Christmas and New Year, the Lunar New Year is my next favorite holiday. It's also the time where we get to eat, eat and eat some more! Since moving to Singapore, one thing that I look forward to every Chinese New Year is the Lo Hei . I really love it! I enjoy the whole process of saying all the well wishes while adding in each ingredient and tossing it all up for luck. I also love the sweet tangy taste and most of all, the fresh salmon slices and the crunchy chip
