Lunch + Tea = Tunch at Grand Park City Hall, Singapore

We all love to brunch. Who doesn't, right?

However, when you're too tired to wake up a little before lunch then you can now have Tunch! I tell you, it just gets brilliant each time. Tunch is the perfect combination of lunch and tea time allowing yourselves to enjoy a wide-array of dishes with the addition of your favorite tea time selections.

Last weekend, I was invited to try the Long Weekend Tunch at Grand Park City Hall. The buffet line-up closely focuses on a number of Asian favorites such as the local Rojak, Kueh Pai Ti, two types of congee and what I loved most was the dimsum station. I have to admit that there weren't a lot of items to choose from but the best buffets are really about quality over quantity right?

Let me take you on a tour around Indulge at Park and tell you more about the dishes that won my heart (and tummy) that afternoon.

I always like to start my meal with a plate of sushi and sashimi. Look at this "bento box" of colorful hand-rolled makis! Everything looked so beautiful that I had to stop myself from getting one of each. Definitely don't want to receive murderous looks from the diner queuing up behind me.

Care for some fresh seafoods?

Moving on, I also loved the cheese selection. My favorite being the soft cheeses which I enjoyed pairing with some fresh grapes and nuts. Yum!

Now, on to the dimsum section. There were four choices namely -- Pork Siomai, Shrimp Hakao, Glutinous Rice and Soon Kueh (Turnip Dumpling). I loved the Shrimp Hakao as well as the Pork Siomai which I missed so much as admittedly it's pretty hard to find good dimsum in the Lion City. I've discovered a delicious gem here at Indulge at Park.

There's also a live station where you can request for a bowl of Laksa or Tianjin Pancakes to be made right on the spot for you.

My favorite that afternoon though where these Spicy Pork Dumplings which were so good! I normally shy away from anything with chili but this one has the right amount of heat that has brought out the flavor of the dumpling and not hot enough to make you sweat and numb your taste buds forever.

There's also a Roast section with a platter of Roasted Duck, Chicken and Pork Cha Siu.

I also tried the Stir-Fried Black Pepper Beef which was also good. I liked how the meat was so tender and really flavorful. How I wish I also got a scoop of rice to go with this. There were also a few more meat dishes and curries too.

Of course, what's a buffet line-up without our local favorites? Aside from the Laksa, you can also make your own Kueh Pai Ti. I'm definitely no kueh pai ti expert as I create a very unbalanced piece for myself which was bursting with so much shrimps inside.

Finally, as I end my meal, I went to the dessert station which had a good mix of pastries, cakes and fruits.

I was so intrigued by the DIY Chendol station where I got to make my own bowl of icy dessert with the use of a mini ice shaver and the usual ingredients that goes into a chendol. Well, this was my attempt which I know looked quite watery. After this short experience, I now have greater respect for all chendol makers out there.

Tunch is the perfect time to enjoy a good meal with your friends or family where you can leisurely eat, catch up and bond all the way till 3 in the afternoon. The best part is you can also choose to sit in any of the three areas of the restaurant -- at the atrium (near the Japanese and Dessert sections), at the main restaurant dining area or enjoy al fresco dining at the garden courtyard. My choice would definitely be the atrium where you get a good dose of sunlight minus the heat. While the selection may not be that extensive, you are assured of enjoying the best quality food that will surely satisfy your appetite.

Buffet rate:
Adult: S$45++
Children (4-12 yrs old): S$22.50++
