Gourmandise Patisserie: French Eclairs in Manila

A wise woman once told our group that our sugar level goes down as you do mental work therefore...always... I repeat... ALWAYS keep a stash of sweets in your work station. :) This is really the perfect excuse to have some candies or chocolates within reach!

It's a busy season for us at work that a number of us have been spending long hours in the office, some even working till the wee hours of the morning at home. It's planning season after all and this is the time of the year where we have to take a great deal of time away from our regular work demands and to do some serious thinking (chanelling The Thinker). With a great amount of thinking brings an equally great need for sweets! It's perfect timing that T had a box of these yummy looking french eclairs from Gourmandise Patisserie for lunch today.

What a lovely name! Gourmandise as stated in its Facebook page means "a love of and taste for good food." Sounds very much like ME and what I live for...GOOD FOOD! The box contained 10 mouthwatering eclairs in various fillings, toppings and sizes. I'm a big fan of eclairs as this is one of the very few desserts that I eat without removing the cream filling.

Let the tasting begin!

We carefully divided each eclair into several bite-size pieces to allow everyone to be able to taste all flavors.

Let me share with you my top 4 favorite flavors:

Raspberry Dulce de Leche (Php. 90)
I love anything with caramel and this one was so creamy! Inside the perfectly baked choux dough was a delicious yema-like filling that had just the right sweetness level. It was soooo good! ♥

Lemon (Php. 90)
It's my first time to try a lemon-filled eclair and I was surprised at how yummy it tasted. I had this after trying all 8 other flavors and initially I was afraid that the sweetness of the caramel and chocolate might weaken the lemon-y taste but it didn't. In fact, it was a great piece to end your meal with as the citrus flavor somehow cleanses your palate too.

Matcha and Yuzu Opera (Php. 200)
Initially we thought it was a Tiramisu but look closely and you can see that the sponge layers are green which may have came from the matcha (a type of Japanese green tea) powder. Now, what is Yuzu? I just found out that Yuzu is a popular flavor found in french desserts like eclairs and macarons. It's a citrus fruit that's quite similar to grapefruits and oranges. While I admittedly wasn't able to taste any sour notes on my tiny tasting piece, nonetheless I really like this one.

Hazelnut Praline (Php. 90)
If you love Ferrero Rocher chocolates then you'll surely love this eclair too! I got the first and last tasting piece and enjoyed the chewy choux dough with creamy hazelnut praline filling and topped with crunchy hazelnut too! Yum!

Gourmandise Patisserie is owned by the same husband and wife team behind The Goose Station. I know for a fact that The Goose Station (TGS) is known for their creative foie gras creations. Thus I wasn't surprise to see that Gourmandise Patisserie has Apple and Foie Gras Eclair (Php. 275) available too! I wonder how this tastes like. I'm excited to visit the store to have more eclairs and to try their other items too!

It's amazing that Serendra is slowly turning into a dessert haven with Sonja's Cupcakes leading the pack as the pioneer in the area followed by both Chez Karine and Gourmandise Patisserie rapidly creating a lot of buzz in the food loving world. Similar to the first two, Gourmandise Patisserie also gives a lot of effort on design. From the pretty little details on the eclairs down to its French chic packaging and store visual artwork, Gourmandise Patisserie is the perfect place to hang out and to bond with friends over a really good afternoon tea (with eclairs of course).

Visit Gourmandise Patisserie at the Ground Floor, Serendra Mall, Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City. Call them at 09177047119/ 8042568.
