Boulevard Diner at Xavierville in Quezon City

For those following this blog, you would know that I am not a BIG burger fan. In fact, it was only a few years ago when I started eating beef again after a 5-year long hiatus.

Don't get me wrong, it's not that I dislike burgers in fact I've had the privilege of trying some of the best tasting ones these past few years but it's not something I would crave for on a regular basis. Paul would tease me that I am such a picky burger eater. While he loves burgers and was so happy especially during our trip to the US where it was definitely heaven for all burger lovers like himself, I limited my burger intake to two all throughout our two weeks stay and for me, that was enough.

Incidentally, two weeks ago, The Foodie Club received an invite from our friend Alvin to dine at his restaurant along Xavierville Avenue. The name is Boulevard Diner and I was expecting all out diner food like burgers, fries, milkshakes and a lot more. Well Alvin did not disappoint as he treated us to a feast consisting of our choice of burger, buffalo wings and lots of potato products! I didn't get to check though if he got milkshakes available too.

We just came from a heavy lunch and bonding over milk tea before heading to Boulevard Diner but surprisingly, all of us still have the appetite for more food! I guess, that's what makes us certified members of The Foodie Club.

Browsing through the menu and taking in Alvin's recommendations, I chose the Gorzon-zola burger (Php. 180) as I was immediately and quite easily lured by the sauteed oyster mushrooms and gorgonzola cheese. I love cheese and anything loaded with it is something I'd normally go for. My burger was one of the first to be served and I liked how the cheese was melting on top of my burger patty. I noticed though that the meat was a tad too raw for my taste since I always want my beef medium well at the very least. Still, it was tender but probably I'll make a mental note to specify how I want my burger grilled on my next visit. Burger + mushroom + cheese makes a perfect combination. This is perfect for all cheese lovers out there.

Paul, on the other hand, chose the Shazam burger (Php. 195) which for me was really a manly-man's burger. Imagine thick burger patty topped with fried egg, bacon and potato strings! It's so big I was amazed at how Paul was able to bite into it.

At the middle of our long table we had baskets filled with an assortment for potato products to share. My personal favorite was the Cheddar Charles (Php. 170) which are hashed brown balls filled with gooey cheese. I enjoyed this very much that I can't stop popping one potato ball after the other. I'm definitely going back for more!

Fries lovers will enjoyed the Freedom Fries (Php. 90) which are perfectly deep-fried to make each strand crisp. Paul enjoyed the thick cut as opposed to the shoestring-like fries served elsewhere. This goes perfectly with some tomato ketchup or mayonnaise depending on your preference. I love that it's just lightly salted which I think even my health-conscious Mommy will approve of.

Boulevard Diner is a fun place to hang out with friends while enjoying their growing list of burgers, spicy buffalo wings and more!
