Manila’s Signature Dishes 2010 : Metro Cuisines

I always have a liking for neighborhood restaurants where I, more often than not, discovery a number of yummy finds. Take the case of Metro Cuisines for example. We found this along N.S. Amoranto street (formerly known as Reposo to most QC residents) one Sunday lunch, where it was almost full except for a small table which we immediately got.

What we didn’t know then was Metro Cuisines has a buffet promo every Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and the whole day of Sunday. This is the time where residents nearby would go to Metro Cuisines to enjoy their varied buffet spread with the entire family.

As part of Manila’s Signature Dishes by Unilever Foodsolutions, we started with our own bowls of steaming Cream of Mushroom soup. The texture was smooth and the flavor was subtle. It was quite refreshing to start our meal with this.

This was followed by Mushroom Aioli with French Toast. I liked this dish a lot as I can taste the paprika which was added in. The toast was crunchy and buttery which complemented the garlic mushrooms a lot. While the mushroom goes well with the buttery toast, I also liked it with rice which I added a lot to my main dish later on.

The star of our meal was the Bakeherb Salmon with Rice. Paul enjoyed this dish a lot. We love the fresh salmon baked with a mix of herbs on top. The crunchy top was really good followed by the delicious salmon meat that melts in your mouth. It came with light Caesar Salad and Tomato salsa as sidings. I would highly recommend this dish and will definitely go back to Metro Cuisines for another one.

As we have been visiting the various restaurants that are part of the Manila’s Signature Dishes line-up, we have tasted a number of Panna Cotta versions and I got to say that Metro Cuisines has one of the best. We love this two-layer creamy dessert where it has chocolate panna cotta at the bottom and vanilla flavored panna cotta on top finished with a drizzle of sweet chocolate syrup. Yummy!

So, look around your neighborhood and who knows?! You might just find a hidden gem waiting to be discovered.

Bon Appetit!
