Starbucks Coffee Refreshers and new Lunch Sandwiches!

The Green Siren did it again!

Just when you thought they did everything they could to coffee from the basic espresso-based drinks to the cool and refreshing Frappuccino Blended Beverages. Well, they're not yet done! This time, Starbucks Coffee reinvents how we see and taste coffee by introducing two cool drinks called the Starbucks Refreshers Beverages with Green Coffee!

There are two flavors to choose from: Very Berry Hibiscus and Cool Lime. At first glance, you might seriously doubt if these two drinks really do have coffee in it but it does.

Green Coffee Extract
What is Green Coffee after all? I was reminded of a trip I took to a coffee farm down South that showed me how a coffee goes from the ground to the roasters to our cup. It's amazing to see colorful coffee berries get sorted and roasted to perfection until it looks like the coffee beans that we see everywhere. A green coffee bean is found at the center of a coffee cherry. What makes it different from the regular coffee bean is that this is the unroasted kind. Thanks to very modern technology, the caffeine is extracted from the 100% unroasted arabica coffee bean to create what we call a green coffee! This is then used in the two new drinks being offered by Starbucks Coffee.

I was able to try both flavors as shared with my friend T and here's the verdict:

The Very Berry Hibiscus (Php. 115 / 125 / 135) has a strong fruity flavor as it has whole blackberries mixed with the green coffee extract. It had a unique taste that may take a while to get used to.

I personally like the Cool Lime Starbucks Refreshers Beverage as it had a strong minty taste with a hint of citrus flavor brought about by the slice of lime. It has been raining for days outside but this would definitely bring back wonderful summery memories at any given day of the year!

Aside from the drinks, I love visiting Starbucks Coffee for the FOOD! While waiting for the gates to open for Saltimbanco last Thursday, Paul and I dropped by Starbucks Coffee at the SM Mall of Asia Arena to have a light snack. Paul had his usual Cinnamon Roll while I tried the Creamy Egg Salad on Whole Wheat Granny Loaf (Php. 150). I love anything with egg in it thus I was instantly drawn towards trying this sandwich amidst all the other sandwiches available that day. I enjoyed the generous serving of creamy egg salad with bits of cheddar cheese, lettuce and I suspect to have a little pimiento added into it too. The toasted bread played a contrast to the creamy filling inside.

Here are the other sandwiches and new food items that I'm planning to try in the coming weeks:

Zesty Chicken with Bacon Caesar Dressing on Focaccia Bread
