This morning I woke up feeling a bit hungry. So, checking what's available in our pantry, I decided to recreate one of my local favorites here -- the famous Kaya Toast with Soft Boiled Egg. First, the egg. I carefully boiled a good amount of water and when it started to bubble, I put in the medium sized egg. I even set the timer to 5 minutes to make sure it comes out runny and cooked. After 5 minutes, I shocked it in icy water as taught to me by chef friends. Then, the grand moment finally arrived for me to de-shell the egg and to see if I did a good job. Well, let's just say it was a disaster! Paul just took one look at it and shook his head. *sigh* Feeling disheartened by the failed soft-boiled egg. I didn't even bother to make the Kaya toast. I just ate it with Wholemeal crackers. Days like this, I seriously wish I am a cooking diva. I can't believe it has been almost a year since Paul and I flew to Singapore then to Malaysia for our 2-week long Honeymoon. I remembered being welcomed by our friend HK who took us on a fun food trip around the Tekka Market where I had the best tasting Lamb Briyani and later we dined at a Nonya Restaurant where it was my first time to try this type of cuisine. Since I had to leave the office to do a couple of (supposedly) quick errands over lunch, I knew I would have barely an hour left to eat. After visiting the bank and buying a couple of things needed at home, I walked around SM Megamall in search of a good place that can serve my order in less than 30 minutes. Should I go for Japanese? Thai? American Fastfood? Or perhaps Italian? I was becoming more confused and undecided as I pass through a row of food outlets at the Ground Floor of Bldg A. Suddenly, I heard a greeting....
