Frannywanny goes to school! Global Academy Pasta Class

Image
I can still remember it clearly. As soon as I've submitted my final exam paper for my Comm Ethics class about 8 years ago; I made a solid declaration that I, Frannywanny , will never go back to school again . Just as quickly as I said those words, I made a little exception, not unless school means me taking up a culinary course then that would be a totally different story. I've always loved to cook. I guess this just goes hand in hand with my love to eat. ♥ I've mentioned in previous entries that my summer vacations back then were spent learning the basics of cooking. I was pretty proud of my pasta dishes, Japanese hand-rolled makis and my specialty -- Pearl Balls. Someday I wish to be able to make my own Paella Negra and to bake my own Roast Garlic Chicken too! That's me wishing I can be like Julia Child or at least Martha Stewart in the near future. Anyway, I guess the stars have aligned this November as I've been really busy but happy at the same time. Women who Lunch at the Chelsea Market and Cafe

In this day and age, it is more common to meet up for dinner given our busy work schedule. Somehow, this also gives having a relaxing lunch out a different and special meaning since it's something that everyone looks forward to and truly treasure when given the opportunity to have one. Such is the case one fine Saturday noon when my sister and I found ourselves with no specific plans for the day. Waking up early, we agreed to go out for lunch with mommy to just bond for the day. It's about time for our regular mother-daughters bonding session! While Pan and I have been really tired and stressed out from work, Mommy's stress level probably triples that of ours combined since she takes care not only of our family but that of her own team at work as well. In fact, I still owe her a massage session this coming holiday break. salmon tartare Our lunch date was set at Chelsea Market and Cafe , I had such a wonderful experience here on all three occasions that I dined here while pr...

a Ravioli meal after the Storm

The weather has been unpredictable lately that a short drizzle can turn everyone paranoid thinking it might cause another catastrophe similar to what we have witnessed last Saturday. Everyone is still in a sad mood due to the news that we get every morning about the rising death toll, the number of families that are homeless and the constant plea for more donations from kind individuals . During this bad weather, everything and anything that can uplift one's spirit is highly appreciated. For me, I turn to a plate of steaming hot pasta as my ultimate comfort food. My first encounter with a dish called ravioli was during my first year in college. I would take a short walk to CPK in Shangri-la Plaza, together with a good friend, we would share on a plate of creamy Portobello mushroom ravioli to which I would sprinkle a lot of Parmesan cheese before taking a bite. Oh how happy I was when I found out that a kiosk specializing in ravioli dishes opened right at the middle of the Robinsons...
