Back at Shang Palace for Dimsum Plus

Image
I'd say, living in Manila, we were spoilt with a wide array of choices when it comes to Hong Kong / Cantonese - influenced dishes. Dimsum, for one, is abundant and almost all Chinese restaurants offers this. In fact, we can get siopao and siomai even from our neighborhood convenience store! With all these choices, then comes the inevitable questions -- where's the best dimsum in Manila ? Once again, I'll start by saying that taste is subjective so for Frannywanny, it just got to be Shang Palace at the Makati Shangri-la Hotel .  I love it so much that every visit I make always should include having lunch at Shang Palace just to enjoy their dimsum! We've been here so many times and yet there's no sign of us getting tired of it soon..maybe not ever in this lifetime! Luckily, our family loves it too making it such a breeze to round up the gang for some dimsum feast. It makes it so much better whenever we're given the function room allowing us more priv...

The world is your OYSTER at Circles Event Cafe, Makati Shangri-la Hotel

Image
Summer is here and you know what I'm wishing I can do at the moment? To wake up to the sound of the waves crashing against the shore, to be able to comb my feet over meters after meters of powdery white sand and to indulge and have all the seafood that my tummy can take. That would be one great vacation and while I'm miles away from home at the moment, all I can do now is to daydream about it. Nuninuninu.... We all know that an oyster is a famous aphrodisiac. It has been linked with l-o-v-e from way back that's why most Valentine's Day dinners would normallly have oysters as part of their menu line-up. However, did you know that oysters are also considered brain food as they can boost your mental ability and it can balance your mood too. Personally, it was only lately when I found the guts to eat oysters. Having a very sensitive tummy, I take extra caution when having shellfish and I only eat them in places that I trust. Thus, when I received an invite from Circl...

Chubby's Rib Shack in Solaris One, Makati

Image
Ribs, ribs, ribs! All I can think of are ribs! :) Lip-smacking, fork-tender meat that falls of the bone without a struggle. That's my type of ribs. I found one of the best rib places in Angeles, Pampanga and another one in California, USA yet I continue my search here in Manila . A few months ago, I purchased a Deal Grocer coupon with fellow Food Club members Richard, Jane and Abet to try Chubby's Rib Shack which is located right at the heart of Makati and is also the sister-restaurant of Buffalo Wings n Things . With Christmas just around the corner, I normally try to avoid heading to this part of town especially on a Friday night where everyone normally goes out for dinner and drinks after work. However, just the thought of having a plate of ribs for dinner was enough to convince both Paul and I to brave the traffic and head to Makati to try Chubby's Rib Shack out. The deal was pretty sweet, all I had to pay for was P300 and I get to order anything worth P500 on...

Dimsum Plus at Shang Palace, Makati Shangri-la Hotel

Image
If today's my last day on earth and I am allowed to feast on only three of my favorite food items it would be: a plate of pasta, sushi/sashimi and dimsum . Who cares about carbs when it's your last day to live right? :) I am definitely indulging myself on these three delicious food items that never fails to brighten up my day. Shang Palace's Dimsum Plus Last Saturday, Paul and I joined our friends Jane and Chris, Richard and Irene, Grace and Peter for lunch at Shang Palace of Makati Shangri-la Hotel . They have availed of the Dimsum Plus promo before and have been raving about it since. Unfortunately, as most of our Saturdays were spent manning our booth at Mercato Centrale, Paul and I haven't had the chance to try it till that very day. From the moment we arrived, we were both handed a menu where it lists all available dimsum specialties, a few choices of soups, 8 types of Main Course (where we can choose one each) and a lot more! First things first, we orde...
