Frannywanny goes to school! Global Academy Pasta Class

Image
I can still remember it clearly. As soon as I've submitted my final exam paper for my Comm Ethics class about 8 years ago; I made a solid declaration that I, Frannywanny , will never go back to school again . Just as quickly as I said those words, I made a little exception, not unless school means me taking up a culinary course then that would be a totally different story. I've always loved to cook. I guess this just goes hand in hand with my love to eat. ♥ I've mentioned in previous entries that my summer vacations back then were spent learning the basics of cooking. I was pretty proud of my pasta dishes, Japanese hand-rolled makis and my specialty -- Pearl Balls. Someday I wish to be able to make my own Paella Negra and to bake my own Roast Garlic Chicken too! That's me wishing I can be like Julia Child or at least Martha Stewart in the near future. Anyway, I guess the stars have aligned this November as I've been really busy but happy at the same time. Coffee, Tea by Me at Studio SnR

Image
Believe it or not, I grew up not drinking coffee. Unlike my sister who loves needs her cup of java to wake her up in the morning, I used to prefer a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice to go with my breakfast plate anytime. It's quite surprising then that I ended up working for the Green Siren for a fun two years plus. My first day at work really changed my life. It led me to drinking my first cup of brewed coffee and guess what, I liked it! Liked it so much that I never stopped drinking coffee after that. After a year or so, I even got certified as a Coffee Master ! This got my parents thinking how on earth did that happened. Their daughter, the former non-coffee drinker becoming a coffee master. That, my friends, continues to remain a mystery. It has been 4 years since I bid the Green Siren good bye but I continue to relive the fun days every single time I step into a store. The warm smiles, the comforting smell of coffee, the sound of the blender, oh I wish to be able ...

50 Feasts : Basic Food Photography Class

Image
A month ago, I received an email from Dwight Co of 50 Feasts , a new food photography school that's located just a few blocks away from home. He invited me to be part of their first ever Basic Food Photography class and after giving it much thought I emailed him back asking if I can give my slot to my husband, Paul, instead. As you all know, what you see here in Frannywanny.com is a close team-up between me and my husband. I do the writing while he takes care of most of the mouthwatering photos found in this blog . As for the eating, we split that responsibility 50/50. :P When Dwight said yes, I told Paul the good news and in return I got a big big big hug from him. Looks like someone was very excited about taking further food photography lessons. We had our mini countdown and along the way, Paul found out that fellow blogger Leslie will also be joining him in this class, all the more he got so excited that he at least know one person in the class already. I think I have ...
