Snack Time : BBQ Mayo Crispy Chicken Sandwich and the all new McSpaghetti

Image
McDonald's will forever be one of my favorite fastfood chains. I just love how they continue to innovate and add new and interesting items on the menu. I'm pretty sure it's fun to be part of their R&D team. Imagine, in just a span of 3 months, they've introduced a number of new menu items and they've made improvements to an old favorite. First off, the new BBQ Mayo Crispy Chicken Sandwich  (Php. 49) Yes, it is actually possible to dine at McDonald's for only Php. 100 or less. We tried this for merienda today and I actually liked it! You get one whole chicken fillet that's topped with a generous amount of tangy mayonnaise and smokey BBQ sauce. The bun was rather on the thin side similar to the ones they use for the Burger Mcdo but it was all alright. I like how the barbecue sauce complemented the mayonnaise and it definitely went so well with the fried chicken fillet. Have it with fries and soda and you got yourself a complete meal .

Lenten Special : Mcdonald's Fish and Fries

Image
Look what's back at Mcdonald's this Lenten Season and yes, it's yummy and British! For decades now, I've been practicing abstinence from meat on Friday thus my numerous Meatless Fridays restaurant and recipe posts here in the blog. (see here , here and here ). For me, it's not difficult to have seafood all day but I got to admit that seeing meat on the table can really be tempting. So this has been my annual act of sacrifice during Lent. Since the Philippines is predominantly a Catholic-practicing country, majority of the restaurants would offer Lenten specials featuring their signature seafood dishes. For our go-to fast food chain, Mcdonald's , there's always the dependable Fillet o Fish which has been my favorite even when there's no need to abstain. I love the lightly breaded, deep-fried fish topped with their tangy tartar sauce, a nice slice of cheese and their pillowy soft buns. I would normally dip my fries into the tartar sauce before cons...

The Return of the McSpicy at McDonald's Philippines

Image
Back when I was still living in the Lion City, I remember looking forward to planned lunch outs with my colleagues D and I. These two ladies are truly the best food buddies as they're always so game to try anything and just about everything. Be it going back to our favorite Fried Chicken Biryani restaurant or heading all the way to Orchard for a good Indonesian lunch feast, there's never a dull lunch moment with them. McDonald's is also one of our shared favorite fast food not only for their breakfast items but for their promotional products too. However, as I start to reminisce about our love for McDonald's in Singapore, I will always remember I's great love for McSpicy (or anything insanely spicy for that matter). While my spicy tolerance is pretty much as good as being able to enjoy a saucer of green chili with my daily mixed veg platter, my colleague I can really go all out with an already spicy ramen bowl with more chili or her ever favorite, McDonald...

McDonald's Delight 500 : Grilled Chicken McWrap

Image
Peer pressure [n]: social pressure by members of one's peer group to take a certain action, adopt certain values, or otherwise conform in order to be accepted. ( Source ) I know, I know... I'm too old to be "pressured" by my peers but when it comes to food, I have a good circle of friends whom I trust for their recommendations. Included in this circle is my friend I . She's a foodie herself and is a great cook too. She's someone who got an amazing taste in food and so far, I've loved every single recommended restaurant that she has brought the NKids to. So, when I  began talking about McDonald's Grilled Chicken McWrap  (S$5.40 a la carte / S$7 meal) and how it's one of the healthier options on McDonald's menu, I knew I had to give it a try. All the more when she and C would bring home these McWraps to enjoy for breakfast or to bring to work the next day. So, over lunch today, Paul and I decided to head over to McDonald's for me to fi...

Trying the Ebi Burger in McDonald's Singapore

Image
Konnichiwa! When the Ebi Burger was launched in all McDonald's stores all over Singapore last week, I made a mental note to check this out over the weekend. I love shrimp and fish burgers as this is what I normally order over their beefy burgers thus I was really excited that McDonald's is adding more non-beef burger options to their menu. Yay! We agreed to share the Ebi Feast Meal (S$7.75) which consists of an Ebi Burger, a Tropical McFrizzy, large French Fries and Tropical McFrizzy drink. I just wanted the Ebi Burger and happily gave the rest to Paul who enjoyed this meal with his all-time favorite -- the Quarter Pounder Burger. Now, I'm excited to open this box and to reveal, what hopefully is, a treasure inside. Ready?

Snack Time : McDonald's Big N' Tasty and Waffle Time

Image
♫ These are a few of my favorite things...♫ Don't you just love afternoon snacks? This is probably the reason why most diets would require one to eat more frequent but small meals. Nibbling on crackers or munching on a fresh fruit is normally what people on a diet would have. However, there are far more interesting and definitely more mouthwatering snack options out there. In China, they have dimsum which when directly translated means "touch the heart". Bite-sized pieces that the Chinese would enjoy with their afternoon cup of tea. In Europe, they have their Afternoon Teas which normally comes with scones and tiny tea sandwiches. Of course, we Filipinos have our own line-up of snacks and it ranges from the very savory pancit (noodles) to sticky kakanins (rice cakes), from all sorts of sweetened skewered fruits to my personal favorite, fishballs and kikiam sold in the street. Yum! Lately, I have two new favorite snacks that I normally would have at least once a wee...

And the Winners Are.....A Mother's Day treat from Mcdonald's

Image
Hooray for Today! :) I rarely get to watch TV but during one of those rare moments, I was able to catch the new McDonald's TVC with a catchy tune and a fun, rather nostalgic story of a guy who drove through McDonald's for breakfast and along his way he saw things that reminds him (and us) of our childhood. There was a unicorn, a teddy bear, a castle built with Lego and a lot more. The message is simple. A good breakfast is essential to give you a great start to your day! This is the reason why I am so excited to spread the love this Mother's Day as 5 lucky Mothers will get a special treat courtesy of McDonald's ! Thank you so much for joining my quick weekend contest ! Without further ado, here are the winners whom I will be contacting soon to arrange for that special breakfast treat for their Moms on Mother's Day this Sunday! CONGRATULATIONS TO.... [CONTEST ALERT] A Mother's Day treat from Mcdonald's

Image
In my family, there are certain dates that we give just as much regard and importance to like a regular holiday. In fact, we celebrate and look forward to it more than most legal holidays. This includes our birthdays and two special days wherein we treat our parents like royalty -- Mother's Day and Father's Day . Mother's Day is a week away and despite our very hectic work schedule, my sister and I are busy planning on what we will do for our dear Mommy on her special day. It's one day where Mommy is required to sit back, relax and leave everything up to us. Our sweet Papa would always prepare a greeting card for Mommy where both my sister and I would include our short messages in. Either for lunch or dinner, we would go out not only with Mommy but with my Amah (grandmother) as well. After all their hard work and intense labor, one day is truly not enough for us to show our utmost gratitude and undying love for them. Still planning on where and what to do on Mot...

Coca-Cola Can Glasses

Image
Look what's inside this big black box!!! It's a set of the new Coca-Cola Can Glasses and I'm so excited to use these when I have friends over! Perfect isn't it? Glasses of icy cold Coca-Cola and bags of chips! I also have the complete set of glasses from last year's collection (sports series) and I must admit I liked this design more. The glasses come in 6 colors: pink, green, blue, lime, charcoal and purple! This makes a good collector's item as the glasses are only available in select McDonald's outlets in 13 markets worldwide! Stocks are limited so head over to McDonald's and avail of these by adding P25 to any Extra Value Meal! *note: thank you NN for this!

Witnessing the break of dawn at McDonald’s Drive-Thru

Image
*SPONSORED POST*  3:30 AM, onboard Cebu Pacific flight 5J 311 My short one-hour and a half nap was interrupted with this message from the pilot: “Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Ninoy Aquino International Airport. Local time is 30 minutes past the hour of three in the morning … I’d like to thank you for joining us on this trip and we are looking forward to seeing you on board Cebu Pacific again.” Yes, I am finally back in Manila and my amazing three day vacation in Taipei has finally come to an end. I was feeling a bit light-headed as sleeping in the airplane was not exactly what I’d call comfortable nevertheless; our flight was pretty smooth all throughout. After speeding past through immigration and customs, we found Mommy and our driver Kuya M waiting for us at the Arrival Gate. Traffic was non-existent at this hour so we were able to zoom pass EDSA in minutes. Arriving at our neighborhood, I asked Mommy if we can grab something to eat. Obviously, everything was close...

Let's Twist Again!

Image
I guess it must be part of McDonald's marketing strategy and it's actually working!!! Every year, they release their delicious Twister Fries (Php. 58) for just a limited time and the whole country goes crazy about it! This has been a long time childhood favorite and the day they re-launch this never fails to put me in a very good mood. The Twister Fries came a bit late this year versus last year when it was re-launched late June. Today was the first launch and I made it a point to pass by McDonald's on my way home to buy myself some Twister Fries. I find it very crunchy and I enjoyed munching into the thin curly strips that goes perfectly well with my favorite Fillet O' Fish sandwich. Welcome back Twister Fries!!!

It's BACK!!!!

Image
A wonderful good morning text greeted me this morning and I knew I have to make a trip to McDonald's today, no matter what. How I wish this can be part of the core line-up but then again, this is what makes the Twister Fries so special. The fact that we have to patiently wait for it to be available once a year and we make sure to indulge and enjoy this to our heart's content before it disappears again. Thank you McDonald's for making my day!! :)

Guangzhou, China 101: Must-EAT.

Image
Despite the fact that our feet and legs were mercilessly battered by walking around Guangzhou to visit their tourist attractions and to see what the China Import and Export Fair has to offer, we made it a point to keep our tummies happy. Guangzhou was said to specialize in Cantonese cuisine. However, to match our hectic schedule, we settled for these local fast food chains and dishes that didn't fail in delighting our taste buds: 1) Kungfu If Manila has Jolibee, then Guangzhou has Kungfu . This was the first unique restaurant that I saw when we arrived at the train station. Also, during the short taxi drive to our hotel, I saw at least four more outlets normally occupying a corner lot or a huge area in the mall. How can I miss it? With a bright red and black logo plus an image of Bruce Lee, Kung Fu has really stirred our curiosity that it was unanimously chosen as our dinner stop for our first night. The menu board was in Chinese and so we resulted to just pointing our orders o...

Love Ko 'To

If I were to look back and remember my first ever foodie experience at a child, it would probably consists of spaghetti, cheeseburger, hot fudge sundae and the best tasting thing ever created called the fries. As a child, I grew up loving Ronald McDonald and his friends Grimace, Hamburglar, Birdie and a whole lot more! While unwinding tonight, I thought of visiting YouTube and view the different McDonalds TVCs made around the world. Here are some of my favorites: Taiwan USA Egypt Korea and lastly, our very own McDonald's ad... Philippines *video source: YouTube
