Mother's Crepe & Cafe in SM Mall of Asia

Image
Summer is here! I can't believe it's already March which means we're almost done with the 1st quarter of 2013. Time is running on high speed, don't you think? Anyway, with the heat getting to be more intense outside, all the more I crave for cold desserts. Ice cream, yogurt and our ever-popular halo-halo. Just the thought of it is making me miss Manila more and more. *sigh* Aside from my dessert bar staples such as creme brulee and a scoop of ice cream, I am also a big fan of crepes. I tell you, I can have crepes at anytime of the day. The savory ones for breakfast, lunch or dinner and the sweet fruity ones in between. This is also why my family and I frequent our neighborhood creperie a whole lot ever since it opened its doors to the public. Let's just say, that's our way of giving our all out support in hopes that it'll be there to serve us forever and ever. During one of our not-so-frequent trips to the SM Mall of Asia , Paul, Joan (a.k.a. Mrs. Fo...

Moshi Moshi in Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City

Image
Moshi Moshi Anone, Anone, Anone! A few weeks ago, Paul and I joined The Food Club in yet another foodie get-together, this time at Moshi Moshi in Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City . The restaurant is located right across the Ateneo de Manila University so expect to see a lot of students dining and hanging out in almost all food establishments and coffee shops within the Katipunan strip. Paul and I are not Blue Eagles but since my sister graduated from ADMU school, we used to frequent this place whenever we would wait for her class to end. A lot of restaurants have opened since then. Though, I'm glad that a lot of our favorite s are still around. I really think we should go back and visit them again. Moshi Moshi is located at the 2nd level of the Regis Center , a new building that houses a big Gold's Gym, Bonchon Chicken , Saint's Alp Coffee Shop and a lot more. Basement parking is available but quite limited. It was a good thing that Paul and I were able to get a goo...

Amazing Discovery at Cafe Monaco

Image
After spending the entire afternoon doing our Christmas shopping, our dear friend Chel treated the group for dinner at her favorite restaurant along Banawe street in Quezon City. She couldn't believe that none of us have dined at Cafe Monaco yet as it has been around for quite a while. The funny thing was that our fellow newly married couple J and S even lives a couple of steps away from the restaurant and still we were all newbies that evening. From the outside, Cafe Monaco looks a bit dark giving you the impression that the restaurant may be empty. Once you enter, you'll be surprise to see the restaurant filled up and their server busy attending to the needs of every customer. The menu is a mix of Japanese-Korean-Pinoy dishes. We took Chel's lead by ordering the Gyu Nikuyakidon , the spicy Bibimbap and Mango Crepe for dessert. After placing our orders, we were given saucers of kimchi for appetizer. Oh I love kimchi and together with wasabi, these are the onl...

Warning: Hot Crepe, Cold Crepe

Image
Here's a classic story about how service can vary depending on the situation or your customers: Last Saturday, I was fortunate enough to be invited to the media launch of the newest branch of Crepes & Cream at The Atrium of SM Megamall . I was excited to attend this event as I love crepes and I used to frequent their Podium branch a couple of years back. I entered the store and immediately smelled the scent of cooking crepes. The aroma just made my stomach grumble and my mouth to water. Finally, it was my turn to place my order and I got a Kani Mango Crepe (Php. 135) because I found out that they add ebiko in it which is perfect since I'm still on my sushi craving phase . I watched the girl effortlessly prepared my crepe that it got me wondering if it's really that easy to prepare. Here's what she did: First, she poured the batter into the hot skillet pan Next, she spread the batter around and smoothen out the sides Afterwards, she added the remaining ingredients ...
