After spending the entire afternoon doing our Christmas shopping, our dear friend Chel treated the group for dinner at her favorite restaurant along Banawe street in Quezon City. She couldn't believe that none of us have dined at Cafe Monaco yet as it has been around for quite a while. The funny thing was that our fellow newly married couple J and S even lives a couple of steps away from the restaurant and still we were all newbies that evening. From the outside, Cafe Monaco looks a bit dark giving you the impression that the restaurant may be empty. Once you enter, you'll be surprise to see the restaurant filled up and their server busy attending to the needs of every customer. The menu is a mix of Japanese-Korean-Pinoy dishes. I enjoy lunch breaks spent with my colleagues. Aside from the hour-long chatter and laughter, nothing beats enjoying delicious desserts like this: Mango Torte by Cuerva Bakeshop I've been a fan of Dulcelin's Mango Torte and I love it that a distribution point is just minutes away from my home. It's literally just a phone call away. However, I've been hearing about another Mango Torte that can easily rival Dulcelin's because it's pretty good too! I was fortunate to be able to enjoy a slice of this much-talked-about Mango Torte the other day and here's what I think... I love it that the mango balls stays soft even after putting this in the freezer overnight. It is very sweet and cold making each bite very pleasant. The meringue crust is very thin and crisp. Here's a refreshing addition to the growing line of choices at Krispy Kreme ! We're big fans of of KK's donuts but normally would just get their Original Glaze as the chocolate-y ones are too sweet for our liking. While I was initially sad that they were out of Pull Aparts today, I took a bold step and tried the newest item on their glass case -- the Mango Creme Cake ! I was hoping that the cream where the sweet cubes of mangoes were lying was not too sweet or rich. I guess, I have to take my first bite to find out. I love the different texture that this particular doughnut has, it surely was similar to a flaky cake that slightly crumbles as you slice it up. I love the sweet mango cubes and yes, the cream was light and smooth. Hooray for Krispy Kreme's newest creation. :)

It has been 5 months since I shared with you what my tummy has been craving for lately ... It has been a very warm summer and nothing beats enjoying a huge tub of Red Mango yogurt complete with my favorite toppings: mangoes, strawberries and mochi! Thanks Jon for the cool treat! :)

This is also posted over at Patay Gutom . Times have really changed. Imagine back then, cereals were just part of breakfast together with a good serving of cold milk and a teaspoon of sugar. Back then, the only choices that we have were corn flakes, chocolate pops, rice krispies and fruit loops. Today we have whole grain cereals, honey or sugar coated flakes and a lot more! I was amused and excited as I chance upon Cerealicious in Greenhills and actually in most commercial areas near high schools and universities. With names that sound like a movie title, they have at least 27 combinations that combines our well-loved cereals with fruits, nuts, chocolates and their homemade milkshake. We tried the Jumango after going with the recommendation of the server. This is a combination of Cornflakes, Mango and Honey Crumble. I also ask for a scoop of vanilla ice cream to make it extra yummy. The smallest bowl is only for P50 which I think is worth it. I watched at the server carefully piled...
