The Pelican : Seafood Bar & Grill at One Fullerton

My good friend M is in town! I really like it whenever he's here because we get to catch up over a good meal. Remember the last time when we supported his craving for crabs and prawns all because that's what good friends do? Yup! How can I leave a friend dreaming and drooling over a good dish for days right? I simply have to do something! Oh... the sacrifices one has to do. hahahahah!

Anyway, M didn't have major craving this time but it was me who have been dreaming about those mouth-watering crab cakes that I had at The Pelican a couple of weeks ago. How it was so deliciously meaty and creamy inside and perfectly crisp on the outside. Of course, M was truly a good friend as he was really game to have dinner at The Pelican Seafood Bar & Grill just to satiate my craving (or to make me stop talking about it over and over again!)

The Pelican Seafood Bar & Grill is known for its seafood platters among others. What makes this restaurant so fun to dine in is the fact that you can enjoy such a lovely view of the Singapore River as well as the Marina Bay Sands and the Esplanade. This is actually the best place to go for sightseeing and to take loads of photos be it of yourselves or of the beautiful Singapore skyline. In fact, every time I pass by this area, I can't help but smile and fall in love with beautiful Singapore all over again. I really love this place and I don't mind spending the entire afternoon chilling here.

M and I agreed to share two mains and one starters that evening. Of course, we went for the Old Fashioned Crab Cakes (S$22) which came in the form of two fat crab patties. I was a bit surprised though as I was expecting the same bite-sized portions that we got back then. Anyway, it's perfect that we got a piece each. Yes, I admit it's a bit pricey but wait till you take your first bite and you'll know why I just love this. The crab meat inside was just so flavorful and I enjoyed adding a generous amount of the pickle slaw before taking a bite. I slowly ate this hoping that this moment will never ever end.

As for our mains, we shared The Pelican Lobster Thermidor (S$88) which was served with oven baked lobster rice. The lobster was huge and the filling was really good. I could taste a hint of pimiento and cheese which I jokingly told M that they actually just cooked this with Cheez Wiz, plated it really well and tadah! charge us an arm and a leg. Seriously now, I have to say that this dish was worth every penny. The serving was very generous that the two of us happily shared this one and it gave us a just right feeling -- not too full, not hungry either. The rice was creamy and is very similar to a risotto. I'm so happy we tried this.

To go with the Lobster Thermidor, we tried the Big Ol' Bouillabaise (S$98). This is one of the few soups that I really like and I'm happy that M was game to try it. What came to our table was a big black pot of soup filled with the freshest seafoods -- prawns, scallops, mussels, clams and fish. It's so delicious! The stock was definitely so rich as they must have simmered this for a long time so you can really taste the seafood in every spoonful. Look how plump the scallops were! I couldn't help but swoon the moment I saw it.

After enjoying our dinner, M and I realized that what we had was an all-seafood meal! He was teasing me that we might start to grow fins and swim our way back after. Well, I may have turned into a fish but at least I would be a happy happy fish. :) The best thing is that The Pelican Seafood Bar & Grill is also one of the partner merchants of the Entertainer App which means we got another 1-for-1 deal! All we had to pay for was the Big Ol' Bouillabaise and the delicious Lobster Thermidor was FREE! I'm truly loving The Entertainer App so much! Check it out here.

It was indeed a great night catching up with my long time friend M. I'm glad to be back at The Pelican too.
