Highlands Prime Steakhouse in Estancia Mall

Papa turned another year older and wiser recently and we were so glad to be home to celebrate this special day with him! As he's a big steak lover, we chose to have our family lunch at Highlands Prime Steakhouse in the new Estancia Mall as they all had a wonderful experience dining at the Mall of Asia branch.

Initially, I thought that this was similar to the one in Tagaytay Highlands so I was semi-daydreaming about the John Wayne Prime Rib on our way to the restaurant. Sadly, I failed to notice that both are two different restaurant with the word "prime" setting them apart. Not to worry though as the menu showed great promise nonetheless.

While we all had our individual orders, Mommy couldn't help but order the Paella Negra which came in a white ceramic plate and not on a piping hot llanera. Right there and then, my hopes of enjoying the soccarat went *kapoof* as I knew that it won't be like the real thing. The paella was tasting and they were quite generous with the toppings however, I found the texture to be too wet and there was that lack of umami-ness.

Moving on to our main course, Paul and I shared the 10oz Prime Rib (Php. 1,630) which was served with buttered corn, mashed potato and grilled veggies. We requested to swap the mashed potato with creamed spinach and I'm so glad that they were okay with it. The steak was very tender and flavorful. You all know that I'm not a big steak fan unlike my dad and hubby but I appreciated the crunchy charred fats, the tender meat and the fact that the size was just right for the two of us.

I love Creamed Spinach and Highlands Prime Steakhouse didn't disappoint! How I wish though that the serving was bigger as I can get half a bowl of this with my steak.

Papa got the Fillet Mignon (Php. 1,780) which he had no complain about! Similar to the Prime Rib, it came with a scoop of mashed potato, grilled veggies and corn.

E, the non-beef eater in the family, went for the Highlands Pork Chops (Php. 580). Judging from his plate, it looked like a good choice as you get two thick chops sitting on top of garlic rice and corn relish. I'd probably order this on my next visit.

Mommy and Pan shared the Seared Chilean Sea Bass (Php. 960) which I wasn't to take a nice photo of as I was already busy digging into my prime rib when their order was served. I was able to have a bite of the fish though and it was melt-in-your-mouth tender!

It was a nice family lunch with my dearest Papa! The best part is, the birthday man surely enjoyed the food and that, to me, is the most important thing of all.

p.s. I have yet to explore Estancia Mall! I was just there for lunch and I have spotted a number of interesting restaurants and shops to check out. Any recommendations?

Highlands Prime Steakhouse is located at the North Wing, Estancia Mall, Capitol Commons, Meralco Avenue, Brgy. Oranbo in Pasig City. Call them at 532-2324 for reservations.
