All-Day Breakfast at O' Coffee Club, Singapore

food porn (noun) : a glamorized spectacular visual presentation of food.

Before anyone things that my blog is starting to get into adult content, don't worry. Frannywanny.com is still very much safe for general patronage. It just makes perfect sense to start the busy week right by talking about my favorite meal of the day -- breakfast. Also why not share some photos in hopes that I'm doing all the yummy food some justice while describing them to you.

There's really something special about breakfast, don't you agree? Especially when you know that you're waking up to the yummiest breakfast fare from sausages to bacon, to all kinds of egg dishes, stacks of waffles or maybe pancakes and for Filipinos, a wide array of -silog options! If you ask me, breakfast can really get me excited to jump out of bed and to quickly get ready. After all, the faster I'm done, the sooner I get to eat.

So, when I was invited by O' Coffee Club to have breakfast for dinner one Friday evening, I was just so excited about it! Since we're having breakfast, I went for coffee. Good thing, I have very high caffeine tolerance so even if I had coffee at night, I can sleep like the baby hours after. I tried the Frozen Espresso Latte (S$6.40) which has a robust coffee flavor but I find it a bit too milky for my taste. The whole presentation was cool though where you get to customize your drink but adding in your milk and syrup based on how much you want. Even the ice cube was made of coffee so the flavor was very strong.

Our meal began with a plate of Eggs Benedict (S$10.90). You can choose whether you want to have it with smoked salmon, ham or in our case, we had it with Mangalica bacon. Okay, I don't even know where to start but let me just say that this Eggs Ben was really delicious! Since almost all cafes offer this dish as a breakfast staple, it be quite challenging to tell if one is better than the other. However, if you ask me, here are some of my criteria: poached egg has to be runny, English muffin has to be chewy not hard or flaky and lastly, the Hollandaise sauce has to be creamy and smooth.

O' Coffee Club has clearly passed the Eggs Benedict test with flying colors and here's another close up shot of that gorgeous runny yolk. You're welcome. :)

Moving on, we had the Waffle Stacker (S$19.90). Aside from the yummy food here at O' Coffee Club, I noticed that the price range is really affordable. Imagine, the waffle stacker is a HUGE serving of 3 thick golden brown waffles filled with scrambled egg, bacon and topped with butter plus it's served with your choice of coffee maple syrup or gula melaka cream. Seeing this, I am reminded of a Clubhouse Sandwich only the waffles replace the bread slices. This can be shared by 3-4 people making the price so reasonable. The waffle has a nice crisp at the edges and it's soft and fluffy all throughout, the syrups were really yummy too. I had a hard time choosing whether I like the coffee maple syrup or the gula melaka cream more so I ended up alternating each bite between the two. I guess, if you want something sweeter then gula melaka it is for you, otherwise, the coffee maple was pretty interesting too.

Aside from all these breakfast options, O' Coffee Club also has a couple of well-loved dishes. By the way, did you know that they've been around for 25 years and they now have 12 stores island-wide? In today's tough competitor in the F&B industry, being able to stay for more than 25 years is indeed a clear testament of their yummy food and coffee matched with perhaps superb customer service.

For those who wants something light, you can have the Classic Caesar Salad with Cheese Crisp (S$11.90/S$12.90). It's the kind that has been tried-and-tested so you're assured of getting something similar to all other caesar salads out there.

My favorite though was the Country Pie (S$12.90). Look at that gooey cheese! That alone was enough to make my heart skip a beat. It's a beautiful baked masterpiece filled with chicken, carrots, and celery then topped with mashed potato and lots of cheese. The pie alone was delicious! The only thing I wasn't too crazy about were the paprika tortillas which were not as crunchy as I was hoping it to be. I think they're better off serving this with toasted crostinis instead.

For people who loves pasta, you got to try the Garlic Prawn Pasta  (S$15.90) which is a simple yet flavorful al dente pasta dish topped with fresh prawns and a dash of chili flakes. At this point, I was already so full so I could only take small bites but this is definitely one that I'd order again next time.

For dessert, we had the French Toast (S$7.90) which as another must-try. Pillowy soft french toast served with a scoop of orange-infused Mascarpone cheese and served with their signature coffee maple syrup or gula melaka cream sauce. It was soooo yummy!

Another dessert was the Muddy Mud Pie (S$11.90) which wasn't so bad. It's perfect for those who love cake and ice cream as you're getting both!
